Educational Tour
1. We suggest starting at the Student Center for the Educational tour
Starting here you will walk through the center to your first stop, Beneficence. The Student Center offers a parking garage.Parking is $5.00/day or $1.00/hour for the first three hours and then $0.50/hour. If it is the weekend, parking on campus is available to anyone anywhere, except for the 45-minute metered spots.
2. Beneficence
This is the first stop of the educational tour. There are 5 pillars surrounding her that represent the 5 Ball brothers who founded Ball State University. Right arm is extended to welcome you to the beautiful campus of Ball State.Commissioned work done by Daniel Chester French, best known for as the sculptor of the Abraham Lincoln Statue. This statue is famously known as Benny.
3. David Owlsey Museum of Art
After Benefience, your next stop is the David Owsley Museum of Art. The David Owsley Museum of Art is free and open to the public year-round. Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. / Saturday–Sunday, 1:30-4:30 p.m. Gets its name from David T. Owsley, grandson of one of the university's founders, Frank C. Ball. Owsley trained as an art historian; his gifts reflect a global taste of art from all around the world.
4. Teachers College Building
The Teachers College is the four stop after the Art Museum. The teachers college is the tallest building in Delaware County. Undergraduate Programs: Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology. State's Teachers College prepares committed professionals and leaders in all of these areas critical to the educational experience.It has been ranked and recognized among the nation’s best.
5. Alexander M. Bracken Library
The Bracken Library is the next stop on the tour. Largest building on campus and Houses the Technology Center and Store. Bracken Library also has several archives and special collections, including the Frank A. Bracken U.S. Civil War Collection, which opened in December 2014.
6. Music Instruction Building
The last and final stop on the educational tour is the Music building. The facility's features include the tunable 600-seat Sursa Performance Hall, 24 studios, and large instrumental and choral rehearsal rooms.
Once you have finished your visit at the Music Building, you can finally make your way back to the Student Center where you first started your tour. This tour is a great educational exploration of the many buildings and campus monuments. We hope you have enjoyed the educational tour.
